Article 53: Qualifications for membership

Chapter VI - Parliament
Subject to the provisions of article 54 of this Constitution, a person shall be qualified to be elected as a member of the House of Representatives if, and shall not be qualified to be so elected unless -
a
he is a citizen of Malta;
b
he has attained the age of eighteen years;
c
he is registered as a voter for the election of members of the House of Representatives;
d
he is not disqualified for election as a member of the House of Representatives by or under any law for the time being in force in Malta; and
e
he is qualified to be registered as a voter for the election of members of the House of Representatives.
